Present sacrifices become immaterial in the movement towards a glorious future. In addition, the mass movement inspires acts of individual cruelty, including torture and mass murder. In an appendix to DÄ…browski (1967), results of investigations conducted in 1962 with Polish youth are reported.[7] Specifically, "a group of gifted children and young people aged 8 to 23" were examined (p. 251). Of the 80 young people studied, 30 were "intellectually gifted" and 50 were from "drama, ballet, or art schools" (p. 251). DÄ…browski asked why these children should display such "states of nervousness or psychoneurosis" and suggested that it was due to the presence of OE (p. 255). Addictions most often arise when a person, as a result of helplessness in the face of difficulties encountered, seeks a form of temporary oblivion and detachment from problems.

An accurate understanding of language plays a significant role in the course of psychological therapy. The smallest nuances of language, the context, can significantly affect the content conveyed. Culturality is also important, consisting of language and behavioural meanings typical of a given culture. In therapy, often difficult issues are discussed, complex situational connections are made, and a good understanding of language makes it easier to express what we feel and what we want to convey. Therefore, psychological therapy in the mother tongue is most preferred among the people concerned. This is especially relevant for forms of activity that involve high situational tension on both time and energy [31], such as short track. The CAS by Clayton and Karazsia (2020) is a 13-item scale for assessing climate change anxiety. Respondents assessed how often the CAS statements are true of them using a 5-point Likert scale from 1 (never) to 5 (almost always). The subscales can be calculated independently, and an overall score can also be used. Linear models make it possible to infer a person’s personality structure and predict his or her behavior only in a very general way.

Owen and Davidson suggest that these traits arise from the leadership role itself, along the lines of the 'leadership trap' I described earlier. At the same time, they suggest that such leaders were originally attracted to power by their narcissistic traits. Once in power, the traits became intensified and distorted, sometimes partly through the intake of alcohol and performance-enhancing drugs (Owen & Davidson, 2007). All of this certainly suggests that the values and structures of modern capitalist-individualistic societies favour psychopathic and narcissistic traits.

In hierarchical non-egalitarian societies, where power is unevenly distributed, it is perhaps inevitable that some individuals develop a sense of superiority and privilege, and tend to oppress and exploit others. This relates to the suggestion by some theorists that leadership positions in themselves increase narcissism. Haslam, Reicher, and Platow (2011) have described this in terms of a 'leadership trap'. Once leaders attain positions of power, they begin to think of themselves as superior and special. Although they may owe their own success to the combined efforts of the group they have emerged from, the leader figure is 'singled out' for credit and admiration, which feeds their narcissistic tendencies and ultimately undermines the group's success. Our support and assistance will consist of psychological counseling, not therapy.
If a dominant male tries to take control of the group, the group practise what Boehm calls 'egalitarian sanctioning'. They gang up against the domineering person, ostracise them or desert them. As Boehm has noted, 'This egalitarian approach seems to be universal for foragers who live in small bands that remain nomadic' (1999, p.69). Owen and Davidson posited 14 characteristics of the hubris syndrome, most of which overlap with psychopathy and narcissistic traits.
In short track, contact with an opponent can lead to disqualification, so it can be considered as a non-contact sport, which may also explain the contradictory results. On scales related to character, short track athletes’ scores were highest on the cooperativeness (C) scale. This result may be explained by the specificity of the discipline, as the athletes compete both individually and in relay races, which requires cooperation between athletes [57,58,59]. This finding may also be related to the discipline’s rules that require the athlete to pay attention to the other athletes to avoid getting in their way, for which one can be disqualified [60].
Psychologists and other mental health professionals are justifiably reluctant to make judgements about the mental health of public figures. Many are careful to follow the 'Goldwater Rule' – the convention of the American Psychiatric Association that it is unethical for psychiatrists to voice their professional opinion about public figures without examining them in person. However, many psychologists and other mental health professionals felt compelled to voice concern about Trump. The president's niece, Mary Trump – herself a clinical psychologist – also stated her belief that the president suffers from malignant narcissism, and possibly other conditions such as sociopathy and dependent personality disorder.
In order to improve the functioning and well-being of my clients, I focus on their current life situation. I use treatment methods based on the strand of cognitive-behavioural psychology, which is recognised as the most effective in treating many common mental disorders. In addition, I often reflect with the client on the role of childhood and the their lives in the past.
Private psychologist opinions indicated that, deportation to the country of origin would break peer ties that children had, not without a difficulty, established. It could lead to their loss of security and, in consequence, to a serious violation of children’s rights. The validation study was conducted in a broad general sample with a wide range of ages and an almost equal number of men and women. However, in our sample, young people predominated, and the empirical distribution of most variables was deviating from normal distribution; therefore, the possibility of generalizing the results is limited.
